Vodafone: new platform for online portal

Vodafone's Web Enablement department came to Valtech in the autumn of 2001 for assistance in developing a new platform for their dealer's online portal.

The portal needed to be connected to many back-end applications for client contracts, billing, customer care and administration. Our task involved communication to end users, and to the responsible back-end system, in order to develop a good, stable online portal based on BEA Web Logic technologies.

We have now finished phase 1 and launched the system on April 15. We successfully met the project delivery plan and have earned credibility at Vodafone.
This project will run into mid-2003 until all subsystems are migrated. New subsystems are under development and a CMS-integration is also planned.

As a separate activity, Valtech has started to develop a general platform for different portal solutions. This pushed Valtech straight into a new quoting opportunity for a key account online portal at Vodafone.

BMW: benefiting from technical synergies
At BMW, we are working with EAI and helping our customer reap benefits from technical synergies in their car production. The German automaker has developed a very heterogeneous landscape of applications for its different car series. Valtech has been engaged through our strong technical skills and personal involvement at the customer's site.

Our new tasks are:

Development of a requirement management process and rollout to SPEED, ASAP and Change Management.
Instantiation of the departments' architectural framework.
Maintenance of an interface catalogue.
As these guidelines will be the standard in many projects at BMW, the plan is to use the rollout of the guidelines for the acquisition of new projects for Valtech.

BMW is an example of successful key account development. We have been involved in eight projects at BMW since Valtech's first engagement in 1998.

ABC Bank: new version of PowerTier
ABC Bank's core business is loans to private customers. The company developed an application for loan approval two years ago based on J2EE, and it uses an EJB application server from our local partner, Persistence, called PowerTier.

Through our partnership with Persistence, we won ABC Bank as a client for a migration to a new version of PowerTier, and for preparing the launch in June. Our objective for ABC Bank is to spread our activities and become their partner in further company development projects.
